Art Not Just For Art's Sake
There is more to the show than just art when the Residents of Ozcare Noosa hold their Art Show at the Noosa Library. Their bright, colourful show represents six months of individual and group achievement and enjoyment as they have planned and focussed on holding an art show. Ozcare Noosa Facility Manager Lorraine Wilson said that the whole project has been very beneficial to all the Residents involved and will result in a comprehensive exhibition which will later be on display at the Ozcare Noosa Facility. “The residents have been very enthusiastic working towards putting on this art show, and they are looking forward to the actual event and seeing their paintings on display. “They love creating the art and have worked at their easels daily to create an impressive array of paintings from landscapes to abstract,” Ms Wilson said. Research has found that painting is a creative process that is life-enhancing - it increases cognitive abilities and hand to eye co-ordination, and brings enjoyment through the pleasures of the creative experience. Painting with groups can be useful for building relationships with others. The project was organised by Tracey Woodman and the other Diversional Therapists at Ozcare Noosa. “This Art Show is one of the highlights of the wide variety of activities we organise for our Residents. “People also enjoy our bus trips, bingo, bowling, games, gardening, nail care and hand massages – as well as visiting entertainers, singing and dancing. “There is always a good choice to keep everyone busy and happy, and the Art Show has centre stage at the moment,” Ms. Woodman said. |
