New Residential Aged Care at Labrador

Ozcare’s new $20 million Parkwood Gardens will not only cater for more than 100 residents but also create about 90 jobs for the Gold Coast community.

Chief Executive Officer Brian Lenz said the ultra-modern residential aged care facility at 100 Usher Avenue, Labrador, offers state-of-the-art services.

Mr Lenz said the architect-designed building would provide accommodation for 60 low care and 44 high care residents, with future capacity for an additional 40 beds.

“This is a state-of-the-art facility with beautifully appointed, ensuited rooms set in tropical landscaped gardens,” he said.

“Parkwood Gardens will provide 24-hour care for residents and will have the most modern equipment and systems to ensure the highest standards of care.”

Mr Lenz said Ozcare ensured that all its facilities were staffed with fully trained and professional employees with expertise in caring for the elderly and disabled.

He said the facility would create about 90 new jobs for the Gold Coast and positions were still available.

“We have appointed our Director of Nursing and are pleased to welcome Julie Norris, who has very impressive credentials with extensive experience and expertise in aged care,” he said.

Ms Norris said she was looking forward to establishing operations and was enthusiastic about the potential of the facility.

“I am passionate about resident-focussed care and I’m looking forward to working with staff and residents to create a warm and innovative culture - and to stimulate interaction with the community,” she said.

“Life at Parkwood Gardens will be motivating and busy with a comprehensive activities program to suit all individual interests and needs.”

She said all meals would be prepared on-site and the facility would also offer on-site hairdressing and allied health services such as physiotherapy and podiatry.

Mr Lenz said Ozcare’s facilities and services were accredited by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and compliant with the Aged Care Accreditation Standards.

Parkwood Gardens is the latest of 10 aged care facilities operated by Ozcare throughout Queensland, from Port Douglas in the north to Burleigh Heads in the south.
