Around 120 people attended the Official Opening of Ozcare’s new district office building in Rockhampton.

Bishop Brian Heenan, Bishop of Rockhampton conducted the blessing, and was assisted by Father Keith Turnbull CM AM, Ozcare Chaplain and Director of the Board.

The $3.4m building was commissioned to support growth in services and accommodate Ozcare’s 60 staff who provide services to around 1000 clients throughout the region.

Bishop Heenan congratulated Ozcare, and described the new base as a momentous step forward in continuing the mission to provide care to those in need.

“The provision of care is absolutely essential, and the personnel of Ozcare offer fantastic ministry in reaching out to so many people.”

Paul Hoolihan, MP, unveiled the commemorative plaque, saying that “This magnificent new building was confirmation that Ozcare really does care, not only for people in need of support, but for the people who provide the services to support them.”

Mayor of the Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr Brad Carter thanked Ozcare for such significant contribution to the community.

“Ozcare has built a wonderful new building and provides services that are critical to this growing region,” he said.

It was announced that Ozcare Rockhampton won the 2009 Queensland Master Builders Regional Award for the Best Commercial of Office Building (up to $4m).
