Ozcare Parkwood Gardens High Care Opens

One of the Gold Coast’s newest aged care facilities has opened its high care wing and welcomed new residents to the $20m complex.

Ozcare’s Parkwood Gardens facility in Labrador marked the occasion with a morning tea celebration for residents, their families and friends.

One of the first high care residents, Lionel Myers, attended the event with his wife Gwen, and was quick to provide positive feedback about his new home.

“The day I came here to Parkwood Gardens was the best day I’d had in many years,” Mr Myers said.

“The care here is very good – the staff are always kind and everyone’s so happy to help.

“It’s very comfortable - I like having my own room and facilities, and I like having my own patio.

“I have peace and quiet to read, and I’m also very interested in taking part in the activities offered,” Mr Myers said.

Gwen Myers said that she is very pleased her husband is living at Parkwood Gardens.

“The accommodation is excellent with such lovely surroundings and a nice atmosphere.

“The staff are always very approachable and it’s very ‘family-friendly’.

“I can come to visit Lionel anytime - we can have lunch together, and there are very nice sitting rooms and facilities to make tea and coffee for guests.

“All those things are a big help for the new residents – helping them to settle in happily, Mrs Myers said.

Ozcare Director of Nursing Julie Norris said the intake of residents is continuing.

“We will continue to take admissions in both the low care and high care wings, until we have filled the 104 beds.

“We’re building a friendly atmosphere here at Parkwood Gardens and residents are settling in to enjoy life in their new home,” Ms Norris said.
