Allied Health
Ozcare’s Allied Health Services are predominantly provided to people eligible for Home and Community Care (HACC) services, including older and frail persons who have a functional disability, persons with moderate to severe disabilities and their carers.Allied Health Professionals aim to improve a person’s ability to participate in everyday activities, to increase independence and to assist in the prevention of further health problems.
Services can be provided in your own home or at a local Ozcare Centre. Ozcare’s Allied Health Professionals provide education and assistance including -

Dietitians
Dietitians: Management of nutrition and diet Management of weight (loss or gain) and health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer
Occupational Therapists
Adaptation of a client’s environment to enhance activity Prescription of adaptive equipment and teaching new skills
Physiotherapists
Diagnosis, management and prevention of movement problems Assessment and prescription of walking aids Design and implementation of exercise programs
Podiatrists
Diagnosis and treatment of foot and lower leg problems (particularly important to people with diabetes) Education in foot care
Psychologists
Psychologists: Management for improving mental function Teaching strategies that help people cope with stress, illness, relationship difficulties and other mental health disorders
Social Workers
Information, referral and basic counselling and support services to assist a person to remain living in the community Information about community services and suitable accommodation options
Speech Pathologists
Treatment for language and speech disorders Assistance with eating and drinking problems Educating carers about helping with these problems
