Continence Units Services

Incontinence refers to the accidental loss of control of either the bladder or bowel.

Incontinence can be managed, improved and often cured, and many measures can be taken to prevent the condition from worsening.

Ozcare’s Continence Units are staffed by fully qualified Continence Advisors and provide education and consultancy to assist in the effective management of continence issues.

These services are provided to health care professionals, clients, families and groups who are interested in understanding Continence Management and relevant services which are available in the community.

Consultancy is provided for clients with complex needs as well as support for new Practitioners.

Education services cover all aspects of continence management.  Specifically designed programs are available to individuals or groups including:

  • Personal Carers
  • General Practices
  • Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses
  • Hospital Services
  • Allied Health Practitioners
  • Residential Aged Care Facilities
  • Community Groups
  • Individual Clients
  • Parents

Education Topics can include:

  • Basic awareness and management of continence
  • Assessment for health care professionals
  • Advanced continence management
  • CASS and MASS services and application
  • Preventing incontinence
  • Dry Bed Programs for young children
  • Selection and application of continence products
  • Self catheterisation
  • Management of indwelling catheter
  • Management of ostomy aids

All education services are designed to suit the client’s or group’s particular needs.

Referrals are accepted from clients, their families, carers or friends, or directly from General Practitioners, Hospitals and other service providers.
