Illicit Drug Detoxification Services
The Illicit Drug Detoxification Service meets the needs of men (18 years and over) in Cairns and Brisbane who want to break the cycle of illicit drug addiction by providing a clinically supported residential based detoxification service.
The Service provides individually focussed care to people who are socio-economically disadvantaged. Assessment-based care planning provides direct access to other services to help reduce illness, injury and serious health outcomes associated with illicit drug use.
Once admitted to the program, clients receive medical support for detoxification from Doctors and Ozcare Registered Nurses. Following detoxification, further assistance is provided through referral for admission to a rehabilitation centre.
Services include:
- Detoxification in a four-bed medically supervised unit.
- Case management that is client driven.
- Access to Ozcare’s Rehabilitation Facilities.
- Outreach and follow-up support as required for up to three months.
An initiative of Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
