Bush Connection Rural Families Resettlement Project

The Bush Connection Rural Families Resettlement Project Family Support Service works with families who are attempting to resolve issues due to isolation arising as a consequence of relocation from rural to urban community living.

The Service works with vulnerable families with dependent children to assist them to develop parenting skills and communication skills.

The service provides families with access to advice, information and referrals and also provides on-going support to develop self-esteem, self-awareness, self-confidence and assistance in resolving family tension and breakdown.

Services may be accessed by self-referral or through referral from other agencies.

The Co-ordinator case manages all client support plans and the Client Support Officer provides support and follow up for clients.  A large group of volunteers extends the service by providing social support, peer support and practical assistance to clients.
The Service provides:

  • Information, advice and referral
  • Personal support
  • Community living support

The Bush Connection provides assistance to link to other services.  These include:

  • Free Legal Service
  • Free Financial Advice
  • Sponsored Vocational Guidance
  • Centrelink
  • Health Professionals
  • Stress Management
  • Government Departments
  • Personal Relationship Counselling

Services funded under this program may work with family members, those who are parenting, whole families and community groups in relation to families with children and young people who find themselves in vulnerable situations.  The focus is to promote the safety and well-being of families, children and young people through use of prevention and early intervention strategies.
