Only 20 minutes from Brisbane CBD, Bakhita Villa is co-located with Canossa Private Hospital, Medical Centre and Retirement Village in the beautiful green surrounds of Oxley.  Bakhita Villa is part of a community precinct established by the Canossian Sisters that is dedicated to caring for people holistically and compassionately.

The Canossian Sisters are an integral part of Bakhita Villa, and caring for people in need is central to who they are. From the moment you arrive, you can expect to be cared for with respect, justice, compassion and love.

Registered Nurses on duty at all times

Our experienced registered nurses are always on duty to ensure you have access to 24-hour emergency nursing care, administration of medications, injections, oxygen treatment, wound care and stoma care.

Family atmosphere

Bakhita Villa is staffed by a team of professional nursing, personal care and therapy specialists who encourage a caring and friendly environment.

We take extra care to create an environment that makes our clients feel welcome, relaxed and at home. We see our clients as part of our family and always go the extra mile to learn about you and your life story.

Meals

Enjoy five nutritious meals a day; breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Select from menus that have been created by our in-house chefs with your input, and enjoy fresh, delicious meals prepared in our on-site kitchens. We cater for all special dietary requirements.

Activities

Activities are organized by a team of Diversional Therapists to enhance your lifestyle and assist you to maintain social and recreational activities.

Our monthly activities calendar, created with your input, will give you ample opportunity to socialise, get creative, and have some fun. From bus outings, concerts and group exercise classes, to art and craft and quieter activities like reading a book in our library, gardening or watching TV in the lounge, there is something for everyone.

People from ethnic backgrounds are supported to maintain and continue their cultural beliefs and practices while living at Bakhita Villa. We also have a large volunteer program which is managed by the Diversional Therapy Team Leader.

On-site Hair Salon

A hairdressing salon is available on site for your convenience to keep you looking your best. Bookings, services and pricing information is available from reception.

Coffee shop

Our small coffee shop located on the ground floor of Magdalen House (Canossa Private Hospital) is a great place to meet up with family and friends and is open weekdays, 9.00am to 1.30pm.  We have also created a number of intimate indoor and outdoor spaces for you to enjoy with visiting family and friends.

Visitors' lounges

Family, friends and visitors are welcome to come and see you, just as they would at home. Animals are also welcome to visit as long as they are restrained and don’t enter dining areas. We have created a number of intimate indoor and outdoor spaces for you to enjoy with visiting family and friends.

Canossa Chapel

Canossa Chapel, conveniently located on-site, is open daily for the celebration of the Eucharist and for personal prayer. The Chapel can also be accessed from the first floor of Bakhita Villa where there is a gallery. This provides easy access for people who are wheelchair dependent. You can also access the Chapel channel on your TV in your bedroom.

Pastoral care

The community of Canossian Sisters and a team of pastoral care workers are available daily to serve your needs. They offer spiritual and emotional support, to not just our clients, but also to your families and friends in times of need. You are also welcome to contact a Minister/Chaplain of your choice at any time to visit you at Bakhita Villa and provide ministry to you.

On-site & visiting health professionals

We have a dedicated Physiotherapist at Bakhita Villa who can help assist in maintaining your mobility. We also offer access to a range of visiting health professionals to meet your specific needs. They may include Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Podiatrist, Dietitian, Dentist and Optometrist. You may be eligible for these services at no cost, or you may be required to pay for them.

Laundry, postal, cleaning & pharmacy services

You will be able to access laundry, postal, cleaning and pharmacy dispensing services at no additional cost

Landscaped gardens & walking paths

Enjoy relaxing in the outdoors in our beautiful landscaped gardens with walking paths.

Rooms & Prices

All residents pay a basic daily fee of 85% of the Australian Single Aged Care Pension. Depending on your circumstances, you may also need to pay a means tested care fee and/or accommodation charge for your room.
