Autumn Ozheart Winner – Toni-Lyn Shaw-Linke

Autumn Ozheart Winner – Toni-Lyn Shaw-Linke

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Toni-Lyn Shaw-Linke, Care Assistant at Ozcare Hervey Bay Aged Care Facility, on winning our Autumn Ozheart award.

Toni received two nominations for the Ozheart award last quarter and both nominations spoke volumes about the type of carer she is.

The first nomination was from one of Toni’s co-workers, a registered nurse, who said that Toni will forever have his respect as one of the best carers he has ever had the privilege to know.

“Toni first began working in aged care 17 months ago, when she first started at our new facility. Prior to this, Toni had no experience with the elderly, yet she has taken to the role with great pride and respect for the residents she provides care to.

Toni is the type of worker we wish we had more of, always bringing a smile to the clients’ faces and giving them a level of comfort when they discover Toni is their carer for the day. Clients simply know that Toni will get the job done and can be relied on to go the extra mile.”

He also highlights Toni’s efforts to support new staff by offering help and guidance as they learn what is required of them as a new employee.

Manager of Clinical Care, Rachel Parry agrees. “Toni is an excellent carer, great buddy and fantastic mentor to our new care assistants.”

Resident, Fran, wrote in her nomination that Toni is very deserving of an Ozheart award. “Toni is such a caring person, always putting others before herself. Nothing is too much trouble for her! She never gets out of work on time, “I’ll just do this before I go”, are her favourite words. She does not like leaving anything from her shift to be given to the next shift on duty. A big thank you Toni!

Toni, it is an honour to recognise you with an Ozheart award – you display qualities we hold in high esteem. We hope you enjoy celebrating this award with your family, friends, colleagues and residents at your special event in May.
