Ozheart of the Month – Kerry Frost

Ozheart of the Month – Kerry Frost

He’s described as “fantastic”, “helpful”, “a real go getter”, and “someone who lights up the room”; all admirable qualities and most definitely qualities worthy of an Ozheart award - congratulations this month go to Kerry Frost, care worker at our Townsville Day Respite Centre and our very first male Ozheart.

Nominated by his manager, a co-worker and a client, Kerry has proved himself highly deserving of this award. Kerry commenced his journey with Ozcare as a volunteer, he had no previous industry experience but you would never know it seeing Kerry’s skills and attributes in action.

Kerry quickly progressed from a casual employee to permanent part time, and today is a full time employee with Ozcare. Thankfully he is, because his presence is greatly missed by staff and clients alike when he is absent (which is very rare!).

Kerry consistently goes above and beyond the duties outlined in his position description. His priority is exceptional service delivery to our clients, demonstrated from the moment he walks through the door until after his scheduled shift has finished.

Kerry always makes time for each person who is in attendance, encouraging each individual to achieve their best by supporting and guiding them to reach new goals while making them feel a valued member of the centre community.

Not only is Kerry a valuable part of the team, he has been instrumental in engaging the clients who attend the centre to get involved in workshop activities. Under Kerry’s direction a number of large timber furniture pieces have been repaired and refurbished, including a beautiful but inoperative gramophone that was kindly donated to the centre which, to Kerry’s credit, is now fully operational and being used as a reminiscence activity.

A female client recently phoned in especially to make the following compliment about Kerry:

“My heart has been touched by the love and care and the first class service I receive when I come to the centre. I absolutely love the woodworking and being able to work with Kerry. He is fantastic and so helpful!”

Kerry exudes the values our organisation strives to achieve each day. He is a true asset. Congratulations Kerry and well done to our runners up, Julie Dodds, diversional therapist Ozcare Malanda and Michelle Harris, care assistant, homeless outreach Toowoomba.

If you know of an employee that should be commended for their work. Nominate them today for an Ozheart award.
