Last week our chief executive officer Tony Godfrey travelled to Toowoomba for the official ground-breaking of our new 150 bed aged care facility, and to see the earthworks which began on 10 July.
The facility will follow our new best practice design introduced in Hervey Bay, being predominantly four storeys and featuring single rooms each with its own private ensuite and balcony. The views will be spectacular from all storeys in the semi-rural setting which overlooks the picturesque valley.
With the cooler climate, fireplaces in common areas will ensure our residents remain warm and cosy. The facility will also include a dementia wing, which will provide secure, specialised care for people living with dementia or similar conditions.
The facility will have lots of communal open space, comprised of recreation areas, courtyards, and putt putt making it family friendly and full of activity.
The Toowoomba facility is the second of three new aged care facilities in various stages of construction; Hervey Bay opening in spring, and our Mackay aged care facility which is in the planning stages.
We foresee more growth and development in our residential aged care and into the independent living space as we expand our offerings in the coming years to meet demand.
