It takes a special kind of person (and organisation) to provide the vast array of services we do, and it’s for this reason we launched our Ozheart program, to recognise the very biggest hearts in Ozcare and the exceptional work they do.
Our sincere congratulations go to our most recent Ozheart recipient, Joanne Lanfear, Care Assistant at Ozcare Parkwood Gardens (Labrador, Gold Coast) – pictured above.
Jo was nominated for her exceptional work by a paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service, whose comments are shared below:
“I’d like to acknowledge the kindness, care and compassion I witnessed that was provided by one of your staff members, Jo, who was working in the Banksia ward at Ozcare Parkwood Gardens at approximately 1900 on 5 August 2021.
The way Jo was able to calm and reassure a very anxious resident was beautiful. Jo has obviously taken the time to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with the resident. It was lovely to see such kindness and I’m sure the resident’s family would be very happy to have their loved one cared for in such a way.”
What a wonderful nomination! It makes us feel so very proud when highly trained and skilled medical professionals outside of Ozcare notice what a great job our staff do.
Jo is clearly a special soul and her empathetic and compassionate nature makes her well suited to deliver the extra special type of care that is required in our secure wings. Our thanks to Jo, and all our amazing carers, for truly caring about our residents. We know our residents appreciate you, as do we. Ozcare would not be the special place it is without you!
