Mental Health Services

Help and support to assist your recovery

We offer a range of programs for those aged over 16 years who are struggling with their mental health. The programs are designed to support you on your journey of recovery, by giving you information and support to develop a plan and achieve your personal goals. 


Mental Health Recovery

For those over 16 years

Our support workers will work with you and your significant others to support you in your path to recovery. Together we’ll develop a direction and connect you with community networks and other service providers. We encourage you to be as active as you want to be, and take responsibility for your own recovery.

Services include:

  • Assessment of your situation
  • Working with you to develop a plan that’s right for you
  • Help to develop community links
  • Skills workshops including budgeting, shopping, nutrition
  • Assistance to access other service providers including job readiness and education
  • Information about recreational activities and finding accommodation

Costs & eligibility
In the Gold Coast region, this service is available to you if you are aged between 18 and 64 years. There is no cost for this service through funding provided by Queensland Health.

In the Mackay, Townsville and Sunshine Coast regions, this service is available to you if your ability to manage daily activities is severely affected by mental illness, you are aged over 16 years, and you are not eligible for services under NDIS. You do not need to have a formal clinical diagnosis of severe mental illness to access this service. There is no cost for this services through funding provided by the Australian Government’s Department of Social Services Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs) program.


SEEDS Program

For people being released from prison

Our Social and Emotional Engagement Development Services (SEEDS) helps people with a moderate to severe mental illness to transition back into the Rockhampton community from prison. We work with you before your release, on the day of release, and up to six months post-release to ensure your transition is a successful one. This includes:

Pre-release

  • Help with parole applications
  • Finding suitable accommodation
  • Applying for IDs, including birth certificate and Medicare cards
  • Setting goals
  • Arranging community support
  • Ongoing visits

Day of release

  • Transport from the prison
  • Day of release pack
  • Assistance with Centrelink and housing
  • Assistance with probation and parole

Ongoing support

  • Up to five days a week support for the first six weeks after your release
  • Support to attend court 
  • Assistance to attend parole and probation appointments
  • Learning living skills
  • Linking you to your community
  • Support for you to find education, training, and employment

All referrals for SEEDS are made through the Prison Mental Health Service.


Mental Health Resident Recovery

For those in Toowoomba

If you have a mental health condition, live in the Toowoomba region, and are at risk of homelessness, we can support you to find and keep housing, access medical services, and support you in your mental health recovery.

Services include:

  • Assessment of your situation
  • Help to develop goals and action plans
  • Support with finding and keeping housing
  • Organising health care, including driving you to see the dentist, doctor, or mental health professional
  • Help to develop community links
  • Access to vocational or employment agencies
  • Help to develop skills to manage everyday tasks like using public transport, budgeting, or managing your health care

Costs & eligibility
This service is available to you if you live in the Toowoomba region, are at risk of homelessness, and experience severe and persistent mental illness. There is no cost for this service through funding provided by the Australian Government’s Department of Health.


Mental Health Services Under NDIS

If you have a psychiatric condition that causes significant and permanent functional impairment, you may be eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
