National Disability Insurance Scheme
Yellow Divider

The NDIS provides individualised support for eligible people with a permanent and significant disability, as well as their families, and carers.

If you are under 65 years of age and satisfy the eligibility criteria, the NDIS will provide you with the reasonable and necessary supports you need to enjoy life.

Accessing services and supports through the NDIS will help you achieve your goals and improve your independence, with the overall goal to achieving better outcomes for your future.

How will NDIS help me?

Through the NDIS, you can:

  • Access mainstream services and supports
  • Access community services and supports
  • Maintain informal support arrangements
  • Receive reasonable and necessary funded supports

These supports will help you to achieve your goals, which might involve:

      • Independence
      • Community involvement
      • Education
      • Employment
      • Health & wellbeing

As an insurance scheme, the NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing in people with disability early to improve outcomes later in life.

The NDIS gives Australians peace of mind that if their child or loved one is born with, or acquires, a permanent and significant disability, they will get the support they need.

          Become an NDIS Participant

To start NDIS services, you need to become an NDIS participant.  You do this by having your eligibility assessed and creating an NDIS plan with the NDIA for approved supports.

          1. Register with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). Call us now on 1800 Ozcare (1800 692 273)  for assistance to start your NDIS registration and find out if you’re eligible.
          2. The NDIA will send you an Access Request Form that you will need to complete with your GP or specialist.
          3. If you satisfy the eligibility requirements, you will receive notification of your Initial Planning Meeting, which can be held over the phone or face-to-face.
          4. Once you have received your approved NDIS Plan via post or the NDIA Participant Portal, you can contact Ozcare as an NDIS participant to discuss the supports in your plan.

          NDIS Assessment

          National Disability Insurance Agency

The NDIA is the independent agency that is implementing the NDIS. They are a national agency that look after NDIS for all of Australia. The NDIA:

          • Helps empower and inform people with disability to be confident consumers, while also providing service providers with clarity and transparency so they can grow their business and respond to need
          • Provides information and referrals, links to services and activities, individualised plans and, where necessary, funded supports to people over a lifetime
          • Raises community awareness and encourages greater inclusion and access for people with disability to mainstream services, community activities and other government initiatives

          MyPlace

Once you are an approved participant of the scheme, you can use the online myplace Participant Portal on the NDIS website to search for service providers in your area, request services, and manage your services and plan online.
