Ozcare provides respite care services for people with disability or health conditions in Queensland

Respite Care at Home – Disability & Health

Help for Queensland carers

If you're caring for someone, taking a break or even just finding time to manage your household isn't always easy. We can help you and the person you care for by coming to your home and taking care of them, leaving you free to enjoy some time to yourself, attend appointments, or go to work.

We offer:

  • Care during the day or overnight
  • Ongoing services or emergency care at short notice
  • Shorter services including multiple short visits during a day
  • Longer services such as care while you’re at work

Our respite care services include:

  • Cooking and meal preparation
  • Social activities such as board games or craft
  • Domestic assistance such as cleaning or washing up
  • Outings and transport within the local community
  • Personal care such as dressing and showering

If the person you care for would enjoy meeting new people, you can also consider our day respite centres which provide care during business hours, including transport to and from your home.

Costs & Eligibility

Our disability and health services are available to people under the age of 65 (or under 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders), who have a disability or other condition that makes it difficult to carry out everyday activities.

The cost of your services is determined by your eligibility for Queensland Community Care Services (QCCS) funding. If you’re not eligible for subsidised services, you can still receive services by paying the full cost yourself. Read more about costs & eligibility for people with disability or health conditions.

We have branches all over Queensland from the Gold Coast to Cairns. Find your nearest Ozcare branch using our ‘locate a service’ finder.
